Dancing between intricate, rhythmic cello lines, compelling lyrics and heart-tugging harmonies, Monique Clare is an award-winning folk-pop cellist and singer-songwriter. Anchored by classical training and a deep love of folk tradition, her songs push the possibilities of her instrument and roll in an eclectic set of influences.

Onstage she’s described as “pure joy” to watch; offstage she’s hosted mountaintop sunrise concerts, taught cello in Afghanistan and travelled the world to dive deeply into folklore treasure troves. As the 2017 Folk Alliance Australia Young Artist of the Year she broke out as a solo artist, released and toured her debut EP, with shows at Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival and

Port Fairy Folk Festival.

She currently also tours internationally as part of The Maes, which has seen her play Telluride Bluegrass Festival (USA), Orkney Folk Festival (UK) and Doolin Folk Festival (IRE). She’s a skilled and versatile multi-genre cellist, having worked for American fiddlers Darol Anger and Hanneke Cassel, as well as Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan and Eminem.
